Contrast Security to Discuss Major Market Shift to Cloud-Native & Importance of Serverless Application Security at InfoSec World 2022
September 15, 2022 — Los Altos, CA — Contrast Security (Contrast), the leader in code security that empowers developers to secure as they code, today announced Senior Director of Product Management Michael Khusid's upcoming session “Moving to Cloud-Native? Why Serverless App Security Needs to Be On Your Radar,” as well as the company’s sponsorship and participation at InfoSec World 2022. Meet the Contrast Team (Booth 526) at InfoSec World, which is taking place September 26-28, 2022 in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.
“In the last year, the industry has seen many organizations adopt cloud-native and serverless application development, which increased business agility and capacity to roll out business capabilities at hyper-scale with great success. While the shift has empowered developers to focus on writing code without the need to manage all the supporting infrastructure, the new applications could still be plagued with age-old vulnerabilities as well as new risks that are unique to serverless environments,” said Michael Khusid, Senior Director of Product Management at Contrast Security. “The discovery of Denonia, the first publicly known malware targeting AWS Lambda, has drawn attention to the importance of application security testing for the new serverless applications, and to the need for a matching modern testing approach to AWS Lambda or Microsoft Azure Functions, which I’ll discuss during my InfoSec World session.”
Contrast is a pioneer in serverless application security delivering a developer-focused cloud solution to uncover custom code vulnerabilities, malware and overly permissive functions with proposed remediation. Implementing both static scanning and dynamic simulated attacks that exercise the code enables developers and AppSec teams to safeguard against security vulnerabilities targeting Microsoft Azure or AWS Lambda Functions. These capabilities are available to enterprises through Contrast Serverless Application Security or individual developers through CodeSec - Serverless today.
Contrast Events at InfoSec World 2022:
Contrast Onsite: During expo hours, attendees can stop by Booth #526 or register for a demonstration of a new, completely frictionless way of testing serverless applications automatically - with no scripts, no tests and no delays.
Expert Session: Michael Khusid, Senior Director of Product Management, will educate attendees on common risks in serverless environments, and cover existing testing methodologies as well as why they don't work well for serverless. Attendees will also learn the difference in cloud-native serverless applications, in particular, those written using Functions; why common vulnerabilities and exposures (CVEs) in open-source code remain a threat, the issue with leveraging existing legacy application security testing tools for serverless and the benefits of observability inside the code versus a quick scan comparing best-practices.
- Session Title: “Moving to Cloud-Native? Why Serverless App Security Needs to Be On Your Radar”
- Date/Time: 4:00- 4:25 p.m. ET, Monday, September 26, 2022
