PRESS RELEASE: Contrast Security Named A Leader in Application Security by Independent Research Firm

Report Cites Contrast Security’s advancements in application security

Palo Alto, Calif. – Feb. 9, 2015 – Contrast Security, creator of the world’s fastest application security software, today announced it was named a leader in The Forrester Wave™ Application Security, Q4 2014 report. Conducted by Forrester Research, Inc., the report identified the 12 most significant service providers in application security.

Forrester narrowed down the list using an 82-criteria evaluation process. Vendors were chosen based off: 1) product fit; 2) customer success; and 3) Forrester client demand. Forrester excludes vendors who have limited customer references or who don’t fit the scope for evaluation.

“Contrast Security provides an up-and-coming offering that makes it a new and innovative contender (since 2012) to the application security space,” according to the report. “The vendor uses a combination of techniques to provide an effective and detailed analysis for its customers. Contrast Security can autodiscover applications located on a specific server and continually assess the security of these applications in real time.”

According to the report, “application security remains a crucial component in keeping enterprise servers and data secure.”

Without application security, the average application harbors over 22 serious vulnerabilities; creating significant business risks especially to enterprises with growing application portfolios. Due to the high cost of manual code reviews, and the ineffectiveness of legacy SAST and DAST tools, most organizations are able to secure only a small percentage of their application portfolio. As a result, untested or poorly tested applications are the leading target of attacks by hackers.

“We couldn’t agree more with Forrester’s assessment of the necessity for application security.  But without scalable tools that enable continuous analysis, the complexity is overwhelming,” said Jeff Williams, CTO at Contrast Security. “Security has to be a natural part of the application delivery process. We believe that being named a leader in a Forrester Wave™ report is testament to our status as a change agent in the industry and our ability to deliver application security solutions that actually work.”

Contrast Security’s powerful instrumentation technology provides developers a fast, accurate and easy way to find and fix the broadest range of vulnerabilities (including OWASP Top 10) continuously and in real-time. Last month, Contrast Security released Contrast for Eclipse, a free and easy-to-use tool that enables developers to find dangerous vulnerabilities in applications as fast as they are developed.  Contrast Enterprise, offered as both a SaaS and software, enables organizations to implement continuous application security that works at agile speed and portfolio scale.
