PRESS RELEASE: Contrast Security Names Steve Feldman Vice President of Engineering

Industry Veteran Will Lead Effort to Eliminate Application Security Gap and Accelerate Threat Response Time

Palo Alto, Calif. – Nov. 11, 2014 Contrast Security, the world’s fastest application security software, today announced the addition of Steve Feldman as vice president of engineering. Feldman will play an integral role in continuing advancements to the company’s application security software, which helps organizations act faster against application security threats and dramatically reduces risk. He will oversee the development of infrastructure and cloud operations and will work with the engineering team to ensure customers can quickly and easily apply continuous delivery and integration to their application development teams.

“More than one-third of all breaches are the result of an application security risk -- there is a huge opportunity for Contrast to fix this enormous issue facing DevOps teams struggling to manage these threats. There is still a massive security gap to fill,” said Feldman. “Between Contrast Security’s refined product as well as its extensive enterprise security experience, we are truly positioned to make fast and unobtrusive security part of everyday culture within the enterprise to enable stronger, more powerful applications.”

Feldman brings experience building high-performing technology teams to deliver software design and deployment. Prior to joining Contrast Security, Feldman served as vice president of engineering services for Blackboard. In his role, he built an entire practice area around application security and performance engineering. Steve was responsible for Blackboard’s portfolio of mobile, SaaS and enterprise products, representing more than $400 million in recurring revenue.

“The SAST and DAST tools that require experts and were invented over a decade ago are no longer viable approaches to application security for rapidly changing and growing application portfolios,” said Jeff Williams, CTO of Contrast Security. “By utilizing Steve’s extensive R&D, performance and testing experience, Contrast can accelerate the development of innovative, fast and highly accurate application security products that leverage our unique expertise and technology.”

This news follows the appointment of former WhiteHat Security executive Mark Hodgson as vice president of marketing, and the addition of John M. Jack and Brian Chess as company advisors in August.

Feldman holds his bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University, a master’s of science in systems engineering from Johns Hopkins University, and has been published in a variety of technical papers from Microsoft, Intel and Dell.
